May 30, 2003 By the end of may, Matt had the basic house frame completed. It still needed to have both porches constructed and some detail work inside. |

Garage Doors While Matt was working on the house, we decided to remove the door openings that were left in the garage walls from last November and try our luck at installing the doors. It was a long 9 hour day as we painfully went through each step of the directions. I'm sure that the next door will take only half the time. |

Finished Door With one door completed, we decided to call it a weekend and head home. The other door will have to wait. |

Pine Tree Pollen We have been amazed at the amount of pollen dropped from the pine trees. This weekend must be prime time for pollen release from the purple flowers. A good wind would whip up a yellow cloud of pollen. After a couple of rain storms, the pollen would wash into puddles that looked like sulfur. |

Basement Somehow we wound up with nine foot ceilings in the basement. A pleasant surprise but we are still not quite sure how that happened. Perhaps the foundation contractor had some extra block! |
|
Porches We were always amazed at the pace that Matt was able to put up the structure. Working mainly by himself, he was always meticulous about his work. He saved us several times by making suggestions on improving the plans and guiding us around building code requirements. |

The Million Dollar View Pictures don't do justice to the great view that we will have through the many front windows. This picture is taken from the kitchen area through the great-room. |

Moving Along The house continues to take shape. Next week we'll have the shingles and windows installed making the structure weatherproof. |
