2008 Journal

Our neighbor, Cindy Reid, gave us over 50 strawberry plants that are just beginning to produce fruit. They're planted with the rest of the berries, and all are enclosed with a deer-proof fence that is visible in the background.

The Fourth of July is Paul's favorite holiday. We decorate with buntings and a 48 star flag that Cuff gave us.

Sasha came to Michigan for Sarah's wedding in June and then came to the cabin to stay for a week. We went to the fireworks in Traverse City where she was able to taste the cherries that have become a trademark of the area.

At the annual Lake Ann Homecoming Sasha and I chose this beautiful old car to pose at as the reigning beauties of the area!

While recuperating this summer Cuff bought himself a fancy cane. Nothing would do, but that Amy had to complete his outfit with the flashy purple top hat.

Who is having more fun in the swing? Baby Wes or Haile

Wes wouldn't be a boy if he didn't love to play with the hose. It didn't take him very long to learn all the tricks.

Grandpa Paul was delighted to introduce his grandson, Wes, to the workings, and pleasures of driving the John Deere tractor.

We have no idea what the big joke was, but Roxanne, Anne and Bruce were obviously enjoying themselves at the firepit during the family weekend
Alison and Wes also thought that something was quite amusing.

No cookout would be complete without corn roasted on the fire. Anne seems to have a good hold on it.

Haile will have to learn to be a better party animal.

We love our family so much that we couldn't resist showing the same picture twice.
Amy and I spent a "ladies weekend" where she chilled with her favorite stuffed animal. That's Amy on the left.

Whenever we have weekend visitors we use it as an excuse for a visit to Moomer's ice cream shop.
We count on Tim's visits to help us reduce the size of the woodpile. Here you can see that he's up to the task.
Neil is showing Mike the fine art of carving his name in the picnic table. This is a requirement of all first time visitors.
Another successful wine tasting/shopping weekend. Tim was a gracious chauffeur for his "happy" family.
After a hard day's work in the garden, or doing nothing, the tree swing is the perfect place to relax.
December's first snow was the occasion to turn on the lights on our Christmas tree.
